Indiana Montessori Academy’s mission is to provide an environment for children to foster their natural love of learning; develop socially, academically and emotionally; and build a strong sense of community all utilizing the concepts and practices founded by Dr. Maria Montessori. IMA believes a child who creates inner peace will create a peaceful environment.
HEAD OF SCHOOL WELCOME:
Dear Fellow Parents,
Welcome to Indiana Montessori Academy! I am thrilled you are exploring a Montessori education for your child. It is my hope you have endearing memories of Montessori just as I do with my own children.
I M A wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend and I M A Directress.
My family and I reside here in Carmel. Together with my wonderful husband, we have 4 beautiful, inquiring, hard-working and energetic children. I found myself falling in love with the Montessori method when my two oldest children were enrolled in a Primary program. I applied for training when our daughter (who is our third child) was two years old and in the midst of the three summer course, we had our fourth child. This is my fifth year teaching in a Montessori Classroom, although my love for Montessori has endured over 14 years.
As you read through the site you see many Montessori children at their normal work routines. Our logo represents the different roles we see children in everyday. The butterfly signals the transformation of change the child undergoes as well as the flight of the future. The IMA concept is based on the endless possibilities for a child’s development toward creating his future. In a child’s perspective toward her education she can speak of herself:
I M A artist...
I M A friend...
I M A mathematician...
I M A peacemaker...
I M A explorer...
I M A storyteller... My words alone cannot convey the amazing work, character development and wonderful social behavior we witness on a daily basis. I encourage you to schedule a time to come observe these young menbers of our community in action. They will impress you! The possibilities for your child are endless. Ultimately, we see a child everyday ready to explore a future. I look forward to working with you and helping your child create our future!
All my best,
Mrs. Kris Spence
